RICHARD Burton continued his charge towards the point to point jockeys' championship with a treble at the Wheatland meeting at Chaddesley Corbett on Saturday, writes Graham Saveker.
Burton followed up his opening race success aboard Chelsea King with a win in the Men's Open aboard Step Quick.
However, the spectators had little entertainment as the only other runner in the race, Early Dawn, refused to race, despite rider Mickey Harris's urgings. So Burton was left to school his mount around for a solo success.
A final race win aboard odds-on favourite Joyce Bel in the Hunt Members saw Burton move on to the 34-winner mark for the season and the championship is now within his grasp.
