GARDENING CLUB -- Presteigne Gardening Club will be making its annual spring trip to Wyevale on Monday, May 19, taking the place of the usual monthly Monday meeting. The coach will be leaving the Memorial Hall - promptly! - at 6pm, and the fare is £4. As the trip is always popular, book as soon as you can to avoid being disappointed. The club has another visit planned, for Friday, June 27, to Kyre Park gardens near Tenbury Wells, when they will be leaving from the Memorial Hall at 10.30 am. ASSEMBLY ROOMS -- Mid Border Arts is playing host for the launch of the new guide to St Michael's Church, Discoed, on Friday, May 30, when Dr Charles Kightly will speak on the history of the church, and David Wheeler will talk about the gardens at Bryan's Ground. Tickets will cost £5, which will include a glass of wine, and the evening will start at 7.30 pm.

FOOTBALL '100 CLUB' -- The lucky winners in the Presteigne St. Andrew's Football Club April '100 Club' draw were: John Fletcher - £100; Stuart Weale - £50; Mary Bowen - £25; Paul Pears - £15; Kevin Jones - £10. The May draw will take place at the Bowling Club on Friday, May 30.

ADULT LEARNING -- People from Presteigne and the surrounding area will be able to try out some interesting adult education classes completely free of charge over the next week. On Monday, May 19, at the Youth Centre in Presteigne, Audrey Bradley will be running a drawing and sketching class at 10am for two hours. On the same day, at 7pm in the Assembly Rooms meeting room, David Bengry-Jones will be giving a preview of the series of illustrated lectures that have been planned for the autumn term on 'Ideas in Modern Art'; this one is called 'From Altar Piece to Object Art' (Marcel Duchamp). On Tuesday, May 20, feel free to drop in and participate in Audrey Bradley's existing art class at New Radnor at 2pm, and on Thursday, May 22, the yoga class at John Beddoes School will open its doors to non-members at 5.30 and 6.30pm - just be sure to take along a mat to lie on.
