VILLAGE LOTTERY -- The winning number on Saturday, May 12 was 31. Our lucky winner is Donald Watkins.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU? -- Your parish council are inviting you to join them at the Lord Nelson Inn on Saturday, May 17 on a journey of discovery. They wish to discover what you really want for your village. They want you to tell them and show them on this huge map of the five villages in the group that they have produced. Do you want a community centre? Do you want a bus shelter? A footpath? Speed restrictions on roads? Would you like your village to remain untouched for the next 10 years? What do you want - school, doctor, chiropodist, football or cricket teams? Then please let them know by spending a few minutes of your time. Come and hear what Linda Wilcox of HALC (Herefordshire Association of Local Councils) has to say about parish plans - she will be speaking at 12.30pm and after she has finished you will have a clear picture of what your parish council is trying to achieve on your behalf. There will be free refreshments at 1pm. The room at the Lord Nelson Inn is at the back of the building and will be open at 10.15am until 2pm. The councillors are looking forward to meeting you.

PARISH COUNCIL -- The annual and bi-monthly meetings will jointly take place at the Lord Nelson Inn on Thursday, May 15 at 7.30pm. The meetings are open to the public.

THE BISHY BOYS -- Strange noises have been heard coming from one of the garages in Bishopstone on a regular Thursday morning for the last few weeks. Rest assured, all is well, it is Bishopstone's answer to 'Last of the Summer Wine' as some of the village's older menfolk build themselves another soap-box to race in the Mansell Lacy Soap Box Derby at the end of June. Those knowledgeable racing buffs amongst you will know that they won last year and now that racing fever is once again beginning taking to take hold. Watch this space for more news.
