WORK has begun to completely renovate a Herefordshire village playing field thanks to a petition from children and a fundraising campaign.
The steep and often soggy Little Dewchurch Playing Field is being drained and resurfaced for the whole community to enjoy.
Prompted by a petition from children and young people about two years ago, the Little Dewchurch Playing Field Association helped raise £1,000 in the village and win funds from the Severn Waste Environmental Fund, The Herefordshire Partnership and the Lottery's Awards for All.
The work will cost just under £10,000 and could be finished by the end of the month. Two comfortable wooden benches, new grass and some new shrubs will complete the new look.
