Kington Town 5 Bromyard Town 0

PLAYER-MANAGER Mick Panniers stepped in to claim a hat-trick as Kington finished their West Midlands League Premier Division season with a flourish to extend their unbeaten league and cup run to 31 games.

Although Kington dominated from the off, it took 25 minutes to break down the battling Bromyard youngsters, augmented by the return of 52-year-old club stalwart Dave Gilbert.

Panniers, in the side to rest some key players for tonight's League Cup final against Bustleholme at Malvern, picked up a through ball to slide home the opening goal.

Bromyard continued to defend with determination but could do little to prevent a thunderous 40-yarder from Chris King, who showed great skill in collecting a loose ball in midfield to flick it up and hit the target with an unstoppable volley.

Panniers extended the home lead when he converted a penalty after Alex Hunt was upended in the box, and then exchanged passes with Hunt to set up Danny Hill for goal number four.

Carl Morgan provided the cross for Panniers to chest it down and volley home his hat-trick goal to complete victory.

In spite of their marvellous finish to a season in which they scored 120 league goals and amassed 99 points, including a league double over champions Westfields, Kington had to be content with the runners-up spot.
