MADAM, I was delighted to read your article regarding Turnastone Court and the Prince of Wales' backing for it.
My sister and I lived at Rose Cottage, Turnastone in the 1930s with our parents.
We well remember Mr and Mrs Watkins and their two daughters, Renee and Nancy. They were lovely people and very kind to us children, letting us play in their paddock and paddle in the brook, which runs through their land.
We used to go along when sheep-shearing time came round and turn the handle on the machines for the men, no electricity then.
I also remember being sent to the farm by my mother for half a pound of best butter.
My sister and I have very happy memories of Turnastone and Vowchurch (we also went to Vowchurch school and sang in the choir in the church) and are pleased to see there is very little change in the two villages.
We have great affection for Hereford and the county and I am pleased to say I read The Hereford Times every week and still have many friends in Hereford.
EILEEN MORGAN,
Walmley Road, Sutton Coldfield.
