CANON Frome began their Marches Division One season by asking visitors Ross to bat first.
CANON FROME v ROSS
Skipper Andy Rogers struck early to remove Farmer and Chris Styles grabbed two wickets as Ross stumbled to 40-3 from 19 overs. Nick Panniers took his first wicket thanks to a smart catch by Andrew Duddell and the introduction of Neil Andrews saw two more wickets, the visitors having crawled to 113-6. After 36 overs Rogers (4-37) then returned to mop up the tail as Ross were all out for 140.
Frome lost the wickets of Rob Mence (2) and Matt Fortnam (4) bringing Nick Panniers in to join Chris Styles. A partnership of 101 followed, Styles eventually fell for 78 (10 fours and 4 sixes) with Frome on 134-3. Andrews joined Panniers to see the home side through with 19 overs to spare, gathering a 20 point haul in the progress.
