BOSBURY gained their first victory of the season in the Hereford District Cricket League Division One away at Strollers on Saturday.

STROLLERS V BOSBURY

Having put Strollers into bat, 10-man Bosbury put in a fine performance in the field to restrict the home team to 161-9 after 45 overs.

Strollers lost their first wicket with just three on the board, when R Leriso edged Owen to Allen behind the stumps. Skirrow was next to go, run out with the score on 32. M Powell had scored 30 when he hooked Blake to Lancett on the boundary. After J Powell was out to a fine catch by Abbey at cover, C Crossland (30) was joined by Westall, and they took the score on to 106.

Davies returned to the attack and bowled them both out in his final three overs. Erwin, Allbright and Hodgin all then chipped in to take the Strollers score up to 161 from their allotted overs.

The Bosbury openers Gary Fletcher and Merv Carless got off to a steady start in damp and dark overcast conditions. They shared a partnership of 61 runs before Carless chopped the ball into his pads and onto his stumps.

Fletcher was on 27 when he spooned a catch to cover shortly after, bringing George Abbey in to join Dave Daffin. These two took the score past 100, prompting Strollers to bring back their opening bowlers, Mark and James Powell.

Daffin was bowled by J Powell for 23, and Powell also picked up Lancett for a duck, to bring the game back into the balance. Abbey carried on batting well, reaching 44 before he was finally bowled by M Powell. Owen perished for a quick nine runs and Steve Davies was joined by Richard Davies. Steve Davies struck some nice shots to take Bosbury towards the required total, striking a six for the winning runs in his 20no.

Bosbury's next game is at home tomorrow (Saturday) when they entertain Weobley.
