THE LRFC's Hop Pickers cricket team, based at the new square at Ross Road playing fields, has had good support for their first two games.
Although losing their first game against the old '80's Much Marcle' team they gave a good account of themselves, losing by 20 runs.
After the match 80's Much Marcle team captain D Masefield made a very generous donation of a whole new, desperately needed kit, happily accepted by A Saxelby of LRFC Hop Pickers to give social cricket a helping hand at the Ross Road site.
The new kit was put to good use on LRFC Hop Pickers' second game on Tuesday, May 6, against local visitors Colwall Taverners.
LRFC Hop Pickers batsmen were outgunned by Colwall bowlers in the 20 over evening game apart from C Kitching playing a fine innings until forced into retirement after 16 overs.
Colwall showed their experience in their innings against LRFC Hop Pickers bowlers with a costly two overs from D Masefield for a three run win in 13.1 overs.
Many thanks again from LRFC Hop Pickers to 80's Much Marcle for their much-needed donated equipment.
