LAST weekend a group of 70 left Ledbury for its eighth annual skittles weekend.
This year's venue was at Weston- Super-Mare where there was 44 teams playing on ten alleys.
Ledbury Ladies (J Mitchell capt), The Wallbangers (K Wall), F Troop (J Preedy), Ledbury Mixers (G William) all won their mini leagues undefeated but poor Harry's Heros (P P Meredith) only won one of their three games.
Ten teams participated in the final, this was played on five alleys. The team with the highest score from five games took the overall first prize.
As much as the Wallbangers tried, along with the F Troop, it was the Yellow Wagtails from Yeovil who triumphed with a total of 474.
Wallbangers finished second with 460 K Wall scoring a mammoth 61, Kim Williams 55, P Llewellyn 50. F Troop were third with 451 T Davis 55, K Mitchell 52, PO McTear 51, J Preedy 50. The Ledbury Mixers finished fourth and the Ledbury Ladies finished a creditable seventh.
Ledbury Ladies' Lyn Davis won the highest ladies score and Rod Jarrett of the Ledbury Mixers was runner up in the men's event.
All the Ledbury teams stayed on an extra day and on Sunday night they had their own mini league.
The sports quiz was won by the Wallbangers, captained by Carol Gorin. The pitch and putt saw Terry Davis beat Martin Lane on the second extra hole and to finish the weekend off Les Meredy won the karaoke.
