LUCTONIANS' head coach Stewart Jardine and his assistant Andy Douthwaite enjoyed mixed fortunes when Shropshire beat defending champions Worc-estershire & Herefordshire to win the Robinson Low Francis North Midlands Championship.
Jardine coached Shropshire to their first success since 1985 when they overcame the twin-counties, coached by Douthwaite, 30-22 in an uncompromising final at Stourbridge.
Matt Ferguson (Lucton-ians) was a member of the winning team, with Greg Harwood (Luctonians), Richard Wozencroft (Tenbury), Rob Atkinson (Hereford) and Matt Williams (Ledbury) all collecting runners-up medals.
n Ben McGowan missed out on a chance to play at Twickenham when the North Midlands went down 27-19 to North-umberland in a play-off match for a place in the Tetley's County Shield final.
The mobile Luctonians prop came on for the final quarter but could not prevent the defeat.
n Flanker Ben Moss took the Player of the Year award as Luctonians celebrated a successful season with a well-attended annual dinner.
Other awards: most improved player, Chris Jaques; top try scorer, James Owen; clubman of the year, Gary House; third team player of the year, James Powell; fourth team player of the year, Ben Bowen.
