FOUR Hereford United players are in opposing national squads tonight for the Semi-pro Four Nations Tournament showdown between Wales and England at Merthyr Tydfil.

Tony James and Paul Parry are poised to retain their places in the Wales starting line-up, with Michael Rose again expected to feature in the England team and late tournament call-up Matt Baker likely to be named on the substitutes' bench by manager Paul Fairclough.

The clash is being billed as a tournament decider as holders Wales pipped Scotland 2-1 in their opening match on Tuesday and pre-competition favourites England thrashed Republic of Ireland 4-0 in their curtain-raiser.

After the second round of matches tonight, England round off their campaign against Scotland at Camarthen on Saturday and Wales face Republic of Ireland at Haverfordwest.

Meanwhile, Hereford boss Graham Turner has confirmed that their third pre-season friendly is against Kidderminster Harriers at Edgar Street on Saturday, August 2, kick-off 3pm.

The Bulls have arranged home friendlies with Wolves (July 14) and West Brom (July 21), and agreed to open Ludlow Town's new Coors Stadium.

Turner has made an offer to an unnamed striker, while Danny Williams and Richard Teesdale have agreed new deals with United. Former goalkeeper Ken Griffiths is joining Exeter City for pre-season training.

United's season tickets have been selling well and there is a 10 per cent discount on purchases on or before Friday, May 30.
