Hailed as the most exciting Andean group to appear for over a decade, Kallawaya are on their debut tour in the West.
At Hereford's Courtyard on Saturday, May 24, five of Bolivia's finest musicians, including ex-members of the hugely popular band Rumillajta, offer a compelling programme of Bolivian and other Latin American music.
Moving from a spectacular presentation of that distinctive traditional South American sound, characterized by the pan-pipes, they go on to employ a remarkable variety of instruments and rhythms, introducing elements of Latin jazz, to create an impressively contemporary Andean sound.
Kallawaya will be presenting a participatory workshop and masterclass during the afternoon. For bookings contact the box office on 01432 359252.
