THE foot-and-mouth outbreak hit the Young Farmers' organisation for six and many clubs found it difficult to keep going.
Eighteen months ago, Saltmarshe YFC was on the edge of folding but with the help of club president David Winterton and club leader Steven Tooby, it kept going with six junior members.
This time last year the club was represented at the county rally with 15 members, all under 17.
They collected four trophies and throughout the summer went on to gain considerable success and scoop a string of accolades in various YFC competitions.
The members have been given a lot of support from the parents who have had to transport them to all the competitions because there isn't a member who can drive! The young members are now busy preparing for the county federation's rally.
