THE inaugural session of Kington's first performance club got off to a cracking start .
Organiser and host Arthur Hyde introduced the event, which promotes local musicians, singers, poets and entertainers in a well attended evening.
The evening was supported by Jim Allen and Andy Cook who run 'The Floor' at St Michael's Village Hall, near Tenbury in their own inimitable style and was capped by Martin Blake who gave one of his usual raucous performances.
In between some fine playing of original songs by Arthur Hyde, John Eyre and Sally Vowles, some racy poems by Liverpool Ken and two wonderful sets of unaccompanied folk songs and sea shanties by Sally Vowles and Steve Freedman.
The next event will be held on Sunday, May 25, at The Burton Hotel from 7.30pm.
Performers who would like an opportunity to play should contact Arthur Hyde on 01544 340502. Especially welcome would be original artists, mime and speciality acts.
