WHIST DRIVE -- Alan and Sandra Payne and Ann Preece, the organisers of the fortnightly whist drives, held in Almeley Village Hall, were delighted with the record turn-out on Tuesday, May 13. Once again they were assisted by Rick Harris, who acted as door steward and MC. Prizes were presented to Margaret Kerrigan, Ruth Jenkins, Sylvia Turner, Joan Meredith, Gwen Thomas, Sandra Payne and Bryn Thomas. Alan Payne was thanked for serving delicious refreshments. The next whist drive will be on Tuesday, May 27, at 7.45pm.

OPEN GARDENS -- Put a note in your diary for the last weekend in June and enjoy Almeley open gardens. There will be 10 gardens open between 11am and 5pm on Saturday and Sunday, June 28 and 29. Lunches and cream teas will be served in the village hall. There will be a wide selection of indoor and outdoor plants for sale along with various arts and crafts. All funds raised will support Almeley School. We hope you will come along with your friends and family to enjoy what promises to be a lovely weekend.

CINEMA -- Flicks in the sticks cinema will be in Almeley Village Hall on Thursday, May 29. The hit romantic comedy 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' will start at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £3 and £2.

VILLAGE HALL -- Advantage West Midlands have given a grant to purchase a new notice board to be sited on the outside of the village hall.
