WORK on a replacement bridge over the River Wye at Bridge Sollars will start at the end of the month.

The £1.2 million contract is being undertaken by Birse Civils, civil engineers based in Northampton.

The company is part of the Birse Group with headquarters in Tadcaster,Yorkshire which has an annual turnover of £400 million.

The new bridge will have three spans of approximately 20 metres with a continuous steel beam and reinforced concrete deck.

To meet stringent environmental constraints work in the river will be restricted to the months July to October.

Completion of the bridge is expected within 52 weeks.
