TWO Ross-on-Wye schools proved they were 'top of the pops' in the whole region after they recycled more than 91,000 aluminium drinks cans between them.
Pupils at John Kyrle High School and St David's Primary School joined the EnviroAbilities 'Make Things Happen' recycling promotion organised by the Aluminium Packaging Recycling Organisation (Alupro).
In exchange for their massive collection of cans, the schools have received environmental points that can be swapped for vouchers to purchase goods. Both schools have been awarded vouchers worth £200.
Carl Rees from Ross Recycling also felt that children from Ashfield Park School and Barrs Court School deserved a special mention because they reached their targets in spite of having far fewer pupils.
