A FOUR-YEAR-OLD girl from Hay-on-Wye was due to be reunited with her mother yesterday after a five-week international Police investigation to track her down.

Estelle 'Esti' Clayton, who went missing on April 9, was found with her father Simon Clayton, 41, in Lagos, Portugal on Tuesday.

Mr Clayton has been arrested.

Esti was the subject of a tug-of-love custodial dispute between her separated parents. She went missing just days before a custody hearing in Brecon granted a residence order in favour of Esti's mother, Aneta Clayton, 29.

Police tracked Esti and her father, a Hay-on-Wye bookseller, in their Volkswagen Caravelle, through Portsmouth to Caen in France and south toward Spain.

Though concerns were raised for their safety both were reported to be in good health when local police caught up with them.

Detective Inspector Hughson of Dyfed-Powys Police said: "I am very pleased that this enquiry has been brought to a successful conclusion and that Esti is safe and well.

"We must now let the legal process take its course in respect of Mr Clayton."
