A YOUNG violinist has beaten children from the National Children's Orchestra in a prestigious competition.
Hannah Roper won the Musician's Union Cup on Saturday as part of the Cheltenham Music Festival.
The seven-year-old, from Tarrington beat four children aged at least 11.
Hannah, who trains with Malvern Suzuki, began playing the violin when she was three.
Her mum, Frances, said: "It was a bit of surprise because it's quite a prestigious competition and the people she was up against were much older than her."
Later this year, Hannah will have an audition at Chethams School, in Manchester, for musically-gifted children.
