FOLLOWING on from the winter league, where Ledbury men's B team won all five matches, they have had an excellent start to this year's summer campaign.
They won two matches without the loss of a single set. Against Tenbury B Tony Haymes and Bob Cooper won 6-0 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1 and Alan Dodds and Chris Longman won 6-4 6-1 and 6-2 6-0. Against Woolhope B, Brian Poole and Bob Cooper won 6-1 6-1 and 6-2 6-1 and Tony Haymes and Alan Dodds won 7-6, 6-1 and 6-4, 6-1.
The next match is against Ross on June 6.
MATHON Cradley & Storridge Mixed A tennis team gained a hard fought winning draw against old rivals Manor Park Mixed C.
Team captain Janet Brown & Phil Toghill won the opening rubber 7-6, 6-2. However Janet and Phil lost their second rubber 3-6, 2-6 as the visitors fought back strongly.
In contrast Carol Dandy & Duncan Hannaford lost their first match 4-6, 2-6. With the match result in the balance Carol and Duncan played some powerful ground strokes to win the deciding final rubber comfortably 6-0, 6-0 to secure the winning draw.
