THREE bound men lined up against a wall at Leominster Fire Station to face a 'firing squad.'

Mayor Janet Atkinson turned a hose reel on her deputy, Brigadier Peter Jones, the town's Anglican rector Peter Swain and teacher Peter Greenham. The trio volunteered for a soaking as part of the Priory Church fete programme. They were sent to the nearby fire station open day for their ritual humiliation after a hitch in plans to use a traditional ducking stool. "We were happy to help out with the water!" said fire station sub-officer Roger Hall. "It was a lot of fun and both events did very well." The station open day which, which raised a bumper £1,700 for the Firemen's Benevolent Fund, drew a big crowd and featured a mock road accident rescue.
