Pegasus Juniors 0 Bicester Town 3
LOWLY Pegasus paid the price for missing a series of goal-scoring opportunities in the first quarter of this Cherry Red Records Hellenic League Premier Division clash.
The Hereford club made a strong start and almost opened the scoring after just eight minutes when a goal-bound effort from Daniel Stack was cleared off the line by a visiting defender.
Soon afterwards the lively Stack latched on to an excellent through-ball from Rob Laurie but his shot was pushed away by visiting goalkeeper Richard Darvill.
Pegasus continued to impress going forward but fell behind against the run of play on the half-hour when a long clearance into the wind caused problems for the home defence and Jimmy Hamilton was tripped inside the area. Hamilton, himself, converted the penalty to put Bicester ahead.
Pegasus' problems were compounded within three minutes after they lost possession on the left and Hamilton was on hand to double Bicester's lead from close range.
The visitors were content to defend their two-goal cushion in a poor second half and regularly pumped the ball deep into the Pegasus half.
Bicester secured the points in the final 15 minutes when Steve Ayris unleashed an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net.
Meanwhile, the versatile Rob Laurie, who joined Pegasus from Welsh outfit Caerleon, is spending this week training with Hereford United.
