Ledbury mayor Keith Francis will be joining police on the beat in the town tomorrow night (Saturday).
Coun Francis and Inspector Sue Thomas will walking around the town from 9pm to 2am, to see how Insp Thomas' new initiative to put more police on Ledbury's streets late at night is working.
The exercise follows a similar one in October, when Coun Francis and Insp Thomas patrolled on a Friday night until midnight.
However, police said it had been one of Ledbury's quieter nights and Coun Francis was keen to repeat the patrol when there could be more happening.
"I want to see the sort of problems the police have to face late at night," he said. "It will be interesting to see."
On Saturday nights in recent weeks, vandals have caused problems in the town centre. The town Christmas tree was vandalised and shop windows have been smashed.
Coun Francis said the exercise was meant to show the resolve of the police and the town council to work together to combat crime and anti-social behaviour late at night.
