A MAN has appeared before Gloucester magistrates accused of causing the death by dangerous driving of Newent's Amanda Hyett.
Jason O'Brien, 32, of Whitegates, Quarry Lane, Gorsley, did not enter a plea to the charge when he made his first appearance on Monday.
It relates to a road accident on the B4221, at Kilcot, on October 20. Mrs Hyett, 37, of Foley Road, Newent, was driving a Toyota MR2 when she was involved in a collision. A post-mortem examination by Dr John McCarthy showed that her death was due to severe head injuries.
Around 400 mourners attended her funeral on October 30. The magistrates said the case against Mr O'Brien would be dealt with by the city's crown court. He was bailed until December 16, pending a formal committal hearing.
An inquest into Mrs Hyett's death has been adjourned.
