NEWENT Police Station will soon be open more often after volunteers were found to help man the front desk.
Three people have stepped forward after an appeal supported by Newent Town Council. They will receive training from the police and will then go on a rota to man the front desk, allowing the station to receive visitors.
The news was welcomed by the town council at a meeting on Monday.
Coun Len Lawton said: "Anything is better than what we have now, I think it's good news and we should welcome it."
