Hinton 5 Leominster Town 3
BOTH teams deserve credit for the skill and commitment they showed in difficult conditions in this entertaining West Midlands League Division 1 South local derby which produced eight goals.
Although the visitors had a couple of early chances it was Hinton who opened the scoring in the fifth minute when Leominster defender Adie Bennett palmed away a goal-bound header from Phil Glover, John Williams stepping up to convert the resulting penalty.
With Bennett red-carded Hinton took advantage and increased their lead through Simon Gwynne and an own-goal from Chris Price.
Although under sustained pressure, Leomin-ster fought their way back into the game with a goal from Ben Price.
Hinton regained their three-goal lead through Darren Birch but, just before the break, Daniel Stack reduced the deficit with a crisp volley.
The dismissal of Hinton's Luke Semple for a second bookable offence levelled up team numbers and produced a hard fought second-half with action and incident at both ends.
Williams bagged a second penalty when Price was adjudged to have handled in the box and Daniel Rocke responded with a penalty for Leominster when Price was up-ended in the home area.
In spite of a late Leominster flurry, Hinton held their two-goal advantage to claim the winning points.
