A NEW measure to tackle erosion on the banks of the Dulas Brook at Ewyas Harold has been given the go-ahead by Herefordshire councillors.
They granted permission for gabions to be built into the riverbank at four points along the boundary of Horsecroft Estate, with a further gabion downstream.
Herefordshire Housing put forward the application and said the baskets would be two or three metres in height, one metre deep and filled with stones and soil.
Planning officers believed the proposal would stabilise the banks of the brook and help to prevent further erosion along one of its sections.
Councillors reviewed three letters in opposition to the proposal, but officers said there was no evidence to suggest the concerns of objectors were well founded.
