PLANS for a housing development at Colwall have been put on hold for a second time to allow Herefordshire councillors to visit the site.

Developers Miton Ltd have applied to erect ten three- bedroom homes with garages off Station Road.

The application was deferred at the November meting of Herefordshire Council's northern area planning committee after councillors feared that the density of the development was too high.

However, Miton Ltd resubmitted the plans, unamended, for consideration at the committee's meeting on Wednesday.

Planning consultant Robert Jolly, of Wall, James & Davies in Stourbridge, said that the planned development was within Colwall's settlement boundary and complied with building regulations.

He added: "We still believe the development is right for Colwall and right for the site."

Ward councillor Roy Stockton disagreed, saying: "I'm sorry, but it does not contribute to the village in any way. It's not right in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

"I would recommend that we refuse this application or perhaps it would be better if members came and saw how large or small a piece of land it was going to be built on."

Colwall Parish Council has also objected to the plans and six letters were received from nearby residents voicing concern.
