Ewyas Harold 5 Lads Club 1
EWYAS Harold needed to win their final game of the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division season against visiting Lads Club by eight clear goals to take the championship but failed despite a valiant effort.
Nathan Scott opened the scoring for Ewyas Harold after being set up by Rob Chandler, who himself added the second after Lads Club goalkeeper Darren Ball had saved a Tommy Taylor free-kick.
Ball kept Harold at bay with a number of good saves before Scott added the third, applying the finishing touch to a Harry Hayles cross.
After the break, Hayles again provided the ammunition for Chandler to add the fourth and when Scott completed his hat-trick with a header from a corner it seemed as if the villagers might achieve their eight-goal target.
But with time running out and Harold pushing forward in search of goals, Lads Club pulled a goal back when Kingsley Lawson hit them on the break.
So, with no further scoring, Harold finished runners-up behind Wellington who completed Richard Vale's three-year spell as manager with their third successive title.
