Hereford will be the guest of honour this autumn at a special international event in the city's twin town in central France.

Vierzon is the scene for the 59th International Show from September 4 to 12 in which Herefordshire will be promoted.

Hereford Twinning Association will attend the opening weekend and has been asked to bring along a group of singers, musicians or dancers.

The first weekend also marks the 10th anniversary of signing the Twinning Charter between Hereford and Vierzon and coincides with the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Vierzon in 1944.

The show will provide an opportunity to promote the county and its skills and products throughout France.

Hereford Twinning Association, with the support of Herefordshire Forum of Twinning Associations and Herefordshire Council, is taking a large vehicle and can arrange to transport goods.

Accommodation is with host families, members of Les Berriauds, a traditional French folk group, which has had three successful visits to Hereford.

Producers from Herefordshire wanting to travel to Vierzon or promote their goods, or any Herefordshire group interested in performing, should contact Paul and Alison Bainbridge on 01432 850655.

Places are still available on the coach for the trip, which leaves on September 2 and returns to Hereford on September 7. For more details contact Geoff Rawcliffe on 01432 273577.
