CANON Frome's final league match saw them entertain fellow relegation candidates Leominster who were asked to bat first.

CANON FROME I v LEOMINSTER I

Openers Turton and Howells looked fairly untroubled as they put on 78 before the introduction of Neil Andrews saw Howells fall for 19. The score had progressed to 132 before Frome's second success and Jamie Lawson induced an edge from Nick Palmer.

Opener Turton made his way past three figures as Leominster threatened to post a large total, moving on to 187-2 but the return to the attack of Chris Styles saw Turton and Cole fall in the same over.

Wickets began to fall regularly as the visitors failed to capitalise on their fine start as Lawson and Andrews both grabbed their second wicket, whilst Styles ended with a four wicket haul as Leominster totalled 221-8 from their allotted overs.

With regular openers Chris Frost and Chris Styles hampered by injuries, Neil Andrews moved up the order to open with Rob Mence. However despite ten runs coming from the first over Mence fell in the next for one.

Andy Rogers joined Andrews to move the score on at pace with the total reaching 57 before Rogers edged to the keeper for 21. Seth Marshall helped Andrews continue to chase but fell for nine with Nelson on the board.

Frome were well up with the run rate as Andrew Duddell joined the belligerent Andrews who crashed his way past three fixtures as the total passed 150. With the score on 164 tiredness finally told on Andrews as he miscued a sweep shot to be dismissed for 101, his innings containing 17 4s and two 6s.

Andrews passed the attacking baton on to Duddell who continued to find the boundary with regularity. Jamie Lawson fell for four with the total on 186 but Styles joined Duddell to see Frome home with more than seven overs to space, Styles contributing five to an unbeaten partnership of 36 as Duddell ended on 73 not out with five 4s and five 6s.

Frome finish above Leominster but have to wait to see whether they will remain in Division One depending on how the Marches League reorganise divisions next season.
