Westfields 1 Coalville Town 1

A GOALKEEPING error by Jon Pugh presented a point to visiting Coalville and left Westfields still without a win after three matches in the Midland Alliance.

Westfields were in control and leading thanks to Paul Burton's first-half strike when Pugh fumbled a 72nd-minute long-range effort to the feet of the prolific Ashley Warner who had no trouble in snapping up the gift.

The home side had opened well and Mark Hibbard forced a desperate early save from Sean Bowles in the Coalville goal after being put through by Chris King.

Good defensive play by Jon Hill twice foiled Coalville attacks before the energetic Wayne Hoskins found Burton in space and the ace marksman beat Bowles with a low shot to notch his third goal in three games.

With Hill, Nicky Welch, Dave Howes and Scott Jackson in top form in the home defence, Westfields seemed well on course for a win until Warner's strike.

Pugh swiftly had the chance to make up for his error when he made a fine save at Warner's feet as Coalville gained in confidence.

But Westfields themselves fought back and came close to gaining a winner.

Derek Craddock fired into the side-netting and Burton just failed to get on the end of a King cross as the home side eventually had to settle for a point.
