WITH our home FA Cup tie against Radcliffe Borough on Saturday, we can put our league form - and all our concerns over that - to one side.

We had hoped for a home draw and we had also hoped for one of the smaller sides left in the competition - and we got both. That's with all due deference to Radcliffe as, although we will treat them with the utmost respect, they are near the bottom of the Unibond Premier League.

We had intended to have them watched at the weekend but unfortunately their game at Guiseley was postponed. Nevertheless we will prepare as thoroughly as we can do, certainly as thoroughly as for any of the league matches we have had this season. We have just got to make sure we are in the hat for the first round proper.

The players who have experienced good runs in the FA Cup and big games know what it's like and what's at stake and how enjoyable a good cup run can be.

Certainly the traditions of the club in the cup are such that every time there is a giantkilling act in the offing, Ronnie Radford's goal is brought out. I think it was voted the best FA Cup goal of all time on a recent web-site and also picked up a prize in a Match of the Day poll.

More recently, against Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur we have produced a couple of outstanding performances at Edgar Street. We've also had a couple of interesting trips to Swindon Town and Peterborough United.

Because of the club's history, there's always a chance that television cameras will come down for live TV coverage.

The difference in TV money is huge - for our Conference game at Accrington, which was featured on Sky, we got £3,000, whereas a live game in the FA Cup brings in £75,000. That's a substantial pay-day for a club like ours and even this fourth qualifying round carries £10,000 in prize-money, so from a financial point of view it's big money.

We can really look forward to this game although we realise it is a potential pitfall.

I understand that Radcliffe Borough are coming down to stay overnight and it's a big occasion for them.

With that in mind we have to be absolutely spot-on in our attitude, determination and in our play to ensure that we get through.

And that will be the warning to the players all week long.
