AN excellent second half fight-back produced three vital Nationwide Conference points for Hereford United at Stonebridge Road and set them back on track after last week's defeat by Halifax.
The home side boasted an unbeaten run stretching back 18 matches to February and United's last visit to their Kent headquarters.
And, on the evidence of the first half, it was easy to see why as the big, powerful and pacy home side made best use of a strong wind.
Hereford, however, defended valiantly and restricted the number of openings available to Gravesend.
When the Kent side did break through, Jonathan Gould proved again he was up to the task with two excellent saves.
The on-loan goalkeeper raced out to block at the feet of Manny Omoyimni in the 18th minute and then flew through the air to push away an effort from Andy Drury in the 39th minute.
But, a minute later, Gould failed to cut out a corner from Matt Lovell as the ball sailed across the six-yard area to end up in the net at the far post.
