THIS was always going to be a feisty affair between these local rivals.

Bromyard II 26pts, TENBURY II 7pts

Bromyard kicked off with a strong wind at their backs and proceeded to pin Tenbury in their own 22 for long periods. After 15 minutes a series of rucks five metres out resulted in a try for scrum half Nick Frost, his first for 12 months.

More attacking pressure from Bromyard and excellent support play by the backs provided a try for second row Larry Fenn. The conversion was added by young Alex Clarke.

The next 10 minutes saw Tenbury camped on the Bromyard line but superb defence from forwards and backs alike, especially Paul Harris and Jon Middleton, kept them out.

Just before half time Bromyard had a penalty five metres out and elected to scrummage. This worked as Nick Frost touched down at the back of the scrum for his second of the afternoon. Clarke again added the conversion.

Bromyard turned round 19 points to the good and against 14 men for the first 10 minutes of the second half as a Tenbury player was sin binned for backchat.

The extra man was made to count as Nick Legge ran through the Tenbury defence four times in a row. The pressure told with Tenbury old boy Tom Albert continuing his prolific scoring form by crossing the line, Clarke converted.

At the next scrum Frost was adjudged offside and was sent to a spell in the bin. He was followed six minutes later by Fenn for the same offence. So 13 against 15, Bromyard still won scrums against the head and Frost returned only to be replaced in the bin by flanker Phil Lane.

As a result, Bromyard played the last 15 minutes with only 13 men but only conceded a late penalty.

This was a great result by Bromyard who took their attacking chances when they came. Second row John Middleton was named man of the match.
