DAVID Brown is like every other striker in that he wants to score plenty of goals.

But the 25-year-old Hereford forward admits it is much tougher hitting the net at Edgar Street this season because of the defence-first approach from visiting teams.

Brown has notched three Nationwide Conference goals so far in his second year at United, including a brace at York City and a single strike at Northwich Victoria, and he is now craving to open his account at home.

Today will be an ideal opportunity for the ex-Telford United striker to get the Bulls' faithful cheering as Scarborough hit town.

However, Brown believes the Seadogs will use stifling tactics similar to that used by Crawley and Stevenage earlier this season.

He reckons United's unconvincing home performances have stemmed to a huge degree from visiting teams' cautious approach.

Brown said: "I think it's inevitable this season that myself and the rest of the team will find it more difficult to score goals.

"Last season we were sometimes beating teams easily, scoring four, five, six, seven goals in games. We knew it would be harder to create chances because teams will start putting everybody behind the ball.

"It's more difficult for teams when they are at home because the onus is on them to come out. But at our place, teams are coming at us, frustrating us and wanting to spoil the game.

"We will just have to adapt to the way visiting teams play. I'm sure our home form will come good and I'll get among the goals. We have lost our last two games and the crowd have become a little bit anxious.

Brown added: "It's important we get a good result against Scarborough. We have been working in training to combat what they are going to do. We've just got to go out there and put pressure on them.

"Confidence is really high after the win at Gravesend. It was a massive win for us and so important after the defeat to Halifax."
