MATT Baker is set to reveal whether he will stay at Hereford United early next week.

The sought-after keeper is still weighing up his options but Bulls boss Graham Turner has said he expects to hear a decision on either Monday or Tuesday.

Turner has 14 contracted players on the books but is still looking for another four or five signings to strengthen his squad.

Meanwhile Turner's is backing new striker Adam Stansfield to fill the gap left by leading scorer Steve Guinan's departure to Third Division Cheltenham Town.

Turner is convinced he can make a big impact on the Conference.

"In his season with Yeovil in the Conference he exploded onto the scene and got 16 goals in 31 games," said Turner.

"He was an impressive player and I think he caught the eye of a lot of people at that time."

"We've brought him to replace Steve Guinan and we're hoping he will do that," add Turner.

"He's mobile, quick and has got a good leap in the air but his main attribute is that he scores goals."

Stansfield has battled back from injury, he broke his leg just 17 seconds into the start of the 2002/3 season, sidelined him for the rest of the season, casting a doubt over his playing career.

But the 25-yer-old fought back last season, although he was largely confined to substitute appearances and scored just six goals.

"Before his injury we'd have stood no chance of signing him," admitted Turner.

"So to get him now is really big plus for us. I think he'll prove a really big handful back in the Conference.

"Hes certainly a big signing for us and what has impressed me most has been his desire to come here."
