Hereford United manager Graham Turner is targeting at least four more signings for next season including two midfield players.

He is still waiting for Simon Travis to sign for the Edgar Street club and remains hopeful goalkeeper Matt Baker will pledge his future to the Bulls.

"Whether or not Simon Travis signs on, we shall still be looking for another defender, plus two midfield players and a senior striker," said Turner. "I'd like to have some new faces in place by the time come back for pre-season.

"I'm sure there will be others joining us for training as well."

"Matt said he would not be making decisions about his future until after the England National Game tour to the USA. But as far as I'm aware he hasn't had any other offers," added Turner.

One player who is on his way out of Edgar Street is playmaker Ben Smith who has signed for Conference play-off winners Shrewsbury Town. The former Reading, Yeovil and Southend player, 25, has agreed a two-year deal at Gay Meadow. Smith scored 13 goals last season for the Bulls.

Meanwhile, Hereford are in dispute with Chester over a cheque for £18,000 in respect of ticket sales for the last game of the Conference season at Edgar Street.

A club statement claims the Bulls have started legal proceedings against Chester to settle the dispute.

Chester sent a cheque to Hereford but it bounced so last Friday Graham Turner, the Bulls manager, started proceedings against them.

"Had Chester been in financial difficulties we would not have taken this action. But we are aware of them signing, or attempting to sign, experienced and expensive players, including a player from this club," he said. "We regret having to have to take legal action but Chester's actions have left us with no alternative."
