BUSINESSES in Herefordshire are being challenged by six-year-old Chloe Stone who has spinal muscular atrophy to make the most of one day and help children like her who are supported by Acorns Children's Hospice.

The charity helps more than 450 families from across the three counties of Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire and the West Midlands, offering respite breaks, emergency care and terminal care in hospices, and support at home through its on-call community team.

Acorns is building a third hospice for life-limited children in the three counties, which is in Worcester.

Only 10% of the £4 million needed each year by the charity to run its hospices and services comes from statutory sources.

Acorns is asking employees to make it their mission to raise as much money as they can on Friday, September 24, during national Children's Hospice Week.

There will be a prize for the most money raised and another for the most creative fundraiser.
