GRAHAM Turner has promised no let-up in tomorrow's clash with champions Chester City.

The Edgar Street club could be forgiven for easing up ahead of the play-offs.

But instead of resting weary limbs, United's manager will send his side out with all guns blazing as they bid to sustain their momentum for the play-offs which start next Thursday.

With a magnificent 10-match winning run behind them, victory number 11 would also give second-placed Hereford 28 wins compared to Chester's 27.

There is also the small matter of Barnet's Nationwide Conference goals record of 103 (United need three goals to achieve that) but Turner only has eyes for the play-offs and a long-awaited return to the Football League.

"It's all about preparation for next Thursday," he said. "It's a training session but we want to win the game and continue the good habits that have got us 10 successive wins.

"We could rest players but I think it would be too long a gap between the Leigh game and next Thursday's first leg.

"We want the players to take some part to ensure their fitness and that they maintain the pace and tempo we've been generating."

Turner may be forced to rest captain Tony James (knee) and Rob Purdie (hip) while Danny Williams (ankle) is another who may need a late fitness test.

Ex-Bulls 'keeper Chris Mackenzie, who is back at Edgar Street on a month's loan from Telford, is likely to be on the bench.

Chester will be without highly rated defender Danny Collins (foot) - an injury that is likely to rule him out of England's National Game XI squad for the Four Nations Tournament that features Hereford's Matt Baker, Michael Rose and Steve Guinan.

Daryl Clare and Kevin McIntyre look set to miss out through suspension.

Turner insists there is no lingering disappointment after their failure to pip Chester and paid tribute to their achievement.

"It's taken a really good side to beat us and that's how we judge Chester," he said.

"We were hoping for a minor miracle at the Deva Stadium last week but I think we'd already accepted the inevitable after the Chester result at Shrewsbury.

"That was the key one and we were almost resigned to playing in the play-offs but we couldn't have done any more than we've done."

Hereford will have home advantage for the second leg of the play-offs on Bank Holiday Monday (May 3).

Their opponents will be one of Aldershot Town, Barnet, Exeter City or Morecambe.

The first leg is next Thursday. Tickets for the Edgar Street game go on general sale today.

FORMCAST: Nothing in it 1-1.
