Hereford United need to put their recent dismal Nationwide Conference form behind them when they take on Radcliffe Borough in an FA Cup fourth-qualifying round tie at Edgar Street on Saturday.

The Bulls' dreadful October has brought them just two points from a possible 15 and rekindled memories of a similar run of five defeats in six matches at the same time of year two seasons ago which ultimately put paid to their hopes of a play-off spot.

Hereford will start as hot favourites against the Unibond Premier Division side but a side as well versed in the art of giantkilling as the Bulls should need no warning about the dangers of underestimating lower-graded opposition.

Hereford boss Graham Turner will certainly be hoping to have a full squad to pick from with the expectation that Lee Mills will have recovered from the stiff neck which caused him to miss last Saturday's match at Carlisle.

Skipper Tony James, who was rested for the trip to Brunton Park after a few performances which failed to match his high standards of recent seasons, is also likely to resume his place in the squad.

One player certain of a start against Radcliffe is goalkeeper Ben Scott. The youngster is the only professional keeper on the Bulls' books after Jonathan Gould's recall by Preston North End at the end of last week.

The former Scotland goalkeeper was on the bench for Preston's match with Nottingham Forest last Saturday and a return to Edgar Street in the near future looks highly unlikely.

Assuming Saturday's match has a decisive outcome, Edgar Street will host another cup tie on Tuesday evening when Doncaster Rovers are the visitors in an LDV Vans Trophy northern section secon-round tie, kick-off 7.45pm.

l There is another home draw for the Bulls in the Herefordshire Senior Cup semi-finals when Kington Town will come to Edgar Street. The other semi-final sees Westfields visit the winners of last night's tie between Bromyard Town and Pegasus Juniors.

The matches must be played by March 12.
