Hereford United have a chance to boost their promotion bid with two home matches during the next week.

Scarborough are the visitors to Edgar Street on Saturday, while next Tuesday United will host Aldershot Town, who eliminated them in last season's play-off semi-finals.

Hereford will be hoping to build on their impressive away record by improving their poor home form, which has seen them lose their last two games at Edgar Street.

The Bulls look likely to continue to be without influential midfielder Rob Purdie but there is better news about centre-back Tamika Mkandawire who may recover from a hamstring strain in time to figure in Saturday's squad.

There is a concern, however, about full-back Ryan Green who is doubtful with an abdominal problem. Mark Robinson, who spent a month on loan at Scarborough last season, stands by to deputise.

Last season, Hereford beat Scarborough 2-1 and, in one of the most exciting games at Edgar Street for some time, defeated Aldershot 4-3 thanks to an injury-time winner from David Brown.

Some of Hereford's fringe players had the chance of a run-out when the Bulls' reserves beat a strong Bromsgrove Rovers side 3-1 at the Victoria Ground on Tuesday.

After falling behind within 30 seconds, Hereford fought back to win with goals from Lee Mills, Andy Williams and Danny Moon.
