Hereford United will be hoping to cement their position among the Nationwide Conference leaders with two successful performances over the Bank Holiday weekend, writes Richard Prime.

The Bulls play host to big-spending Stevenage Borough on Saturday and then make the journey to Cheshire to take on much-changed Northwich Victoria on Monday. Both matches kick off at 3pm.

Last season, United completed doubles over both clubs, following up comprehensive early-season away successes with narrow 1-0 home wins.

Paul Parry's injury-time winner brought victory against Stevenage while the Bulls won 5-1 at Northwich who finished bottom of the table last term but were reprieved from relegation after the demise of Telford United.

Stevenage suffered defeats in their opening two games, at leaders Dagenham & Redbridge (3-1) and at home to Aldershot (1-0), but roared back to form last weekend with a 5-0 hammering of Accrington Stanley.

Northwich have drawn 2-2 both at Gravesend and at home to Carlisle but went down 2-1 at home to Exeter City last Saturday.

Hereford director of football Graham Turner looks set to see his already powerful squad boosted by the return to fitness of full-back Ryan Green and striker Danny Carey-Bertram.

Both, however, face a battle for inclusion in the weekend's squad after United's excellent displays in their three games, which have brought two wins and a draw.
