AFTER several seasons' absence, Westfields will be taking part in this year's FA Cup competition.

The club's new allpay.park has received an FA Cup grading while their recent promotion to the Midland Alliance gives them the required status to take part in the most famous of all of football's knock-out competitions.

Westfields will travel to Dr Martens League club Corby Town for a preliminary round tie on September 4, hoping for better fortune than when the clubs last crossed swords.

That was also in an FA Cup tie when the city side squandered a 3-0 lead, from Sam Bowen's hat-trick in the first 20 minutes to go down eventually 6-4.

"It's great to be back in the FA Cup," said Westfields chief executive Andy Morris.

"It's something special to look forward to and if we can win we have a home draw against the winner of Congleton Town against Carlton Town."

Westfields, who report back for pre-season training on Sunday, have also been drawn away in the FA Vase and face a trip to Midland Combination side Castle Vale in the second qualifying round on September 25.

l PLACES are still available on FA Level 1 and Level 2 Certificates in Coaching Football courses being arranged by the Herefordshire Football Association in Hereford.

The Level 1 course, which takes place between July 19 and 31, is open to anyone over 16 seeking to improve their knowledge of the game.

The level 2 course, the UEFA B Part 1, starts with an initial week of training from August 16 to 21 leading up to two final assessment dates in March 2005.
