BOSBURY Cricket Club won the Flint & Cook Marches League Division 5A with out bowling a ball on Saturday as their game at Hay Seconds was called off due to the wet conditions.

Bosbury's final points average remained the same, and this was enough to stay ahead of Presteigne to take the title.

Secretary David Daffin said: "The result makes up for last year's disappointment of missing out on the Hereford and District League title after the end of the season due to the withdrawal of another team."

This year, Bosbury had a great season with the bat, with lots of runs scored, including a number of personal bests, and the breaking of a number of club records. With the ball, both Jon Owen (39 wickets) and Steve Davies (36 wickets) had exceptional seasons, whilst Mark Wadley showed great improvement and achieved the best bowling performance of the season, 8-21 against Woolhope 2nd XI.

The club is always keen to attract new players and anybody interested in joining for what looks set to be an exciting season next year should ring Steve Davies on 07785 541404, or visit the Bosbury website www.bosburycricket.org.uk and send an e-mail to the club.
