HEREFORDSHIRE'S newly- formed girls' choir has given its first public concert.
It took the form of a Christmas recital at the Bishop's Palace in Hereford, raising £200 for the Acorn's Children's Hospice.
It was conducted by its director Nigel Hayward, who travels regularly from Cornwall to train the choir.
Known as The Hellens Singers, because of its association with The Hellens, Much Marcle, the choir is now 20 strong with girls aged nine to 14.
It was established in the autumn to provide an opportunity for talented girl singers in the county to be part of an accomplished choir.
Tim Lowe, one of those backing the new choir, said it was hoped to strengthen backing for the venture in the coming months.
Those taking part in the first public show were Nigel Hayward, director, Christine Moore, accompanist, and singers Miranda Otter-Barry Ross, Ursula Harris, Jessica Hickey, Ellen Grose-Hodge, Emma Boulton, Amalie Fisher, Hannah Davies, Eva-Jean Wright, Caroline Lindley, Isobel Hancock, Harriet Edwards, Charlotte Virgo, Harriet Brown, Megan Corder, Rosie Hanks, Helena Moore, Amelia Butler, Julia Starkey, Olivia Ward.
