BISHOP of Hereford's Bluecoat School have completed an impressive double by carrying off the Herefordshire netball tournaments at under-14 and under-16 level.

The under-14 squad saw off the challenge of John Masefield, John Kyrle, Kingstone, and Whitecross to meet St Mary's in the final of the South Herefordshire section, carrying off the top prize with a 7-5 win.

Bishop's then played north county runners-up Minster who provided tough opposition before going down 10-7 after two periods of extra-time.

This set up a final with St Mary's who had beaten Queen Elizabeth, Bromyard, in the other semi-final and, despite the lead changing hands a number of times in a very competitive match, Bishop's once again came out on top 7-5.

Bishop's and St Mary's will both move forward to represent Herefordshire in the West Midlands regional tournament in January.

The Bishop's under-16 squad beat St Mary's, John Kyrle and Haywood in their section matches to earn a quarter-final with Kingstone whom they defeated 8-5.

In the semi-final, Minster were comprehensively defeated 13-0 and this set up a final with Hereford Cathedral School who had beaten St James and the Abbey in their last-four match.

The final was a very close affair with some excellent attacking netball met with equally strong defensive work before Bishop's emerged with a single-point victory, winning 11-10.
