PARISH COUNCIL - Breinton Parish Council met at the village hall on Wednesday, December 15. Apologies were received from the ward councillor, Bob Matthews. A total of 18 members of the public were present. The clerk reported that a risk assessment carried out by the council had been approved by the internal auditor and it was agreed that it should be sent to the external auditors in accordance with their wishes. It was also agreed that a copy be sent to the village hall committee for its information. The council approved the appointment of the clerk as the responsible finance officer. It was reported that further progress had been made for the provision of signs for the lanes of the parish and methods of raising the necessary expenditure. The matter of completing the parish plan was discussed and it was agreed that, subject to financial and administrative safeguards, a consultant should be employed to bring the matter to a conclusion before the countryside agency closure date of March 2005. Dates for the annual meeting of the council and the annual parish meeting were agreed for Wednesday, April 27, and Wednesday, May 11, respectively, both at the village hall, starting at 7.30pm. One planning application was before the council and it was agreed that the planning authority be informed that it did not meet the criteria laid down by the local authority and could therefore not be supported. The next meeting of the council will be held on Wednesday, January 12, at the village hall starting at 7.30pm.
