Concerns about the poor condition of Wintours Green have been expressed by Dymock Parish Council.
At this week's council meeting at the Ann Cam School, questions were asked as to whether joy-riders had been driving vehicles across it.
Although there are tyre marks and ruts, council chairman John George said he thought that was unlikely.
The ruts are to be filled in shortly and the council is to look again at the by-laws for Wintours Green, which date in their present form to 1972.
Coun David Prout said he thought by-laws should be left as they are.
The meeting heard that existing regulations do not allow for any wheeled vehicles on the green.
Councillors are to consider a number of options and improvements for the green, which could include post holes for removable signs and even chain-link fences to prevent any vehicles driving on.
